Owner and President
Clay Graduated with distinction from Stanford University, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in engineering management plus executive education at the MIT center for real estate. Prior to re-joining Speedway full-time, Clay worked with Booz Allen & Hamilton management consulting firm in New York City and was a principal at the Hellman & Friedman investment bank in San Francisco. Clay currently serves on the Nebraska Educational Telecommunication Commission, Nebraska Cultural Endowment, Bryan Health, LPED, and on UNL’s Raikes School of Computer Science and Management and Sheldon Advisory boards, as well as the Hudl Advisory board.
Owner
Craig attended the University of Nebraska and studied architecture and marketing. Early on, Craig lead marketing efforts in transforming Speedway Motors’ catalog business into one of the largest and most recognizable companies in the nation. Now, he leads the Speedway Properties design and construction teams leading several properties to be recognized as the most unique buildings in the market. Craig has served on various boards including the Haymarket Development Corporation board.
Owner
Carson is an owner of Speedway Motors and oversees the Warehouse, Manufacturing, Maintenance, IT, and Engineering teams.
Carson graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Carson has been a central figure in Speedway Motors' racing involvement as crew chief for the famed 4x sprint car, fielding a Lola-Chevrolet in the American Indycar Series championship, designing the "Winged Wonder," an S-10 pickup, and an all-new Corvette up the sordid Pikes Peak hill climb. Currently you may see him track testing our house branded products with Team Speedway at an autocross event near you.
Carson also worked at Caterpillar and Proctor & Gamble before returning to Speedway Motors.
Vice President
Lauren joined Speedway Properties in 2022. She earned her BSBA and MBA from Creighton University. Lauren graduated with distinction and was awarded Creighton Heider College of Business’s 2017 Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2022 she completed Stanford’s Executive Education Leadership Program, receiving her certificate in Negotiation Strategies and Leadership. Prior to Speedway, Lauren was Vice President at the nation’s largest privately held servicer and provider of commercial real estate debt and equity. Her expertise in property valuation, acquisitions, and financing supports Speedway Properties’ project development, leasing, construction, and financing needs.
General Counsel
Matt joined Speedway Properties as General Counsel in 2019 after providing legal services as outside counsel for several years. Prior to joining Speedway, Matt served as general counsel for the family office of Gary and Mary West. Matt obtained both his law and accounting degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Matt currently serves on the board of the Grand Island Central Catholic Foundation and the Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation.
Director of Operations

As the Director of Operations, Laura supports the strategic day-to-day procedures for both the Commercial & Residential Property Management Departments, with specific focus towards optimizing processes, enhancing team collaboration, and ensuring projects delivery. She joined Speedway in January of 2024 with over 12 years of experience in the Real Estate sector.
Chief Financial Officer
Jim Stark joined Speedway Motors and Speedway Properties as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in November 2024. He was promoted to President and CFO of Speedway Motors in December of 2025. Prior to this role, he served as CFO of Green Plains in Omaha, Nebraska, from October 2022 until joining Speedway. As CFO, Jim oversees accounting, treasury, risk management, financial planning and analysis, banking relationships, and ERP systems implementation. Before his CFO role at Green Plains, Jim was Vice President of Investor Relations at Darling Ingredients Inc. in Irving, Texas, from December 2019 to January 2022. Prior to that, he spent over a decade at Green Plains leading investor and public relations, contributing to numerous strategic initiatives across the organization. With more than 30 years of senior management experience in corporate communications, finance, and logistics, Jim brings a deep understanding of both operational and strategic business functions. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Texas.
Chief Financial Officer Emeritus
Mike joined Speedway Properties in 2001 as Chief Financial Officer. He has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications, software, real estate and manufacturing industries. Prior to joining Speedway, Mike was Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel of Interactive Intelligence, Inc., where he led a successful initial public offering (IPO) of the Indianapolis-based software company. He also served as Vice President-Treasurer and Secretary of Aliant Communications.

In 2012 he earned the CCIM designation. He has over 18 years of experience in commercial real estate sales, property management, construction management, and leasing. Tom has served on several community and development boards in Lincoln.

As Director of Operations, Ken is involved in all areas including project development, construction, leasing, maintenance and daily operations. His 27-year history as the Administrator of the State Building Division has given Ken an expansive knowledge in building management, operations and project development. Ken works with city officials, architects, engineers, contractors and tenants to initiate and successfully complete development and renovation projects. Ken has been active on several business associations over the last 20 years.
Project Development Manager
Michaela joined Speedway Properties in 2025 as Project Development Manager, bringing over two decades of experience in municipal operations, financial systems, economic development, and process improvement. Her background includes work in customer relationship management, impact fee administration, and economic development, with a consistent focus on operational efficiency and service delivery.
As Project Development Manager, Michaela is responsible for project planning, issue resolution, and supporting the company’s long-term growth strategy. She coordinates with city departments—including Planning, Building & Safety, LTU, Health, and Law—to manage permitting, zoning, infrastructure, redevelopment, and code compliance. She also serves as a liaison on special projects and represents Speedway in matters involving urban development and community engagement. Michaela holds a Master of Arts in Management from Doane College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bellevue College. She is also a certified Economic Development Finance Professional through the National Development Council.

Barry brings knowledge in building science and other specialties, such as facility security, mechanical & electrical systems, glass & glazing, door and window repair and restoration, hardware, access control, IAQ and hazardous materials remediation & abatement.
Architect
Elizabeth joined Speedway Properties in 2023 with a Master of Architecture degree and 10+ years of experience in the architectural profession. She has been involved in a wide variety of project types including mixed use, multi-family, educational, and commercial. Her strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills are an asset in the successful completion of redevelopment projects and maintenance of Speedway’s properties.
Facilities Designer
Brittnie joined Speedway Properties in November of 2023 with a Master of Interior Design Degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Prior to Speedway, Brittnie worked as a Design Project Manager as well as a Facilities Construction Coordinator. Her expertise in interior design and construction will be used for numerous projects at Speedway. In her free time, Brittnie can be found at Husker sporting events, spending time with her husband, family & friends, or playing recreational volleyball.
Archivist
Lizzie earned her BA in Graphic Design and Ceramics from Nebraska Wesleyan University and her MA in Art History from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She joined Speedway in 2024 as an Archivist, bringing experience in teaching, exhibition design, and field archaeology. Lizzie oversees the Telegraph Museum collection and leads exhibition design for the museum. Passionate about museum education and history, she is dedicated to making learning accessible, engaging, and fun. In her free time, Lizzie can be found reading, making art, and spending time with her family.

Eli joined Speedway Properties in January of 2023 as a part-time accounting and finance intern. He graduated in December of 2023 from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, having studied finance and accounting. In January of 2024, Eli started his full-time role as a Financial Analyst. Eli helps facilitate Speedway Properties with underwriting potential real estate, development projects, and the ongoing performance of assets under management.

Residential Maintenance Supervisor

Josh joined Speedway in February of 2022 as a Maintenance technician after spending 17 years building custom cabinets and doing custom woodwork. He currently serves as the Commercial Maintenance Supervisor. In his free time, Josh enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors with his wife and kids. His kids especially love working on woodworking and home projects with him.
